The location might not be an ideal if you want to be in the heart of the city but I didn't feel any inconvenience, taxis are cheap! You can either ask at the front desk or go to a taxi stand by Complexo Amoreiras, a shopping mall, which is only a minute (can be less) walk from the hotel. Also there's a bus stop nearby. We found proximinity to the shopping mall very convenient, didn't have to walk with bottles of water for long. We stayed in tower room - quite spacious, the view from the window not bad, but the decor. . .was my only disappointment. The bathroom was spacious and clean, with Molton Brown amenities. The staff were attentive and spoke good English. I think Dom Pedro is reasonably priced for the quality and I'll come back here again.

I would not recommend for two reasons. 1) Poor attitude of the front desk the bar staff. We felt like we were imposing when we asked to have our air conditioning checked and when we went for lunch and a drink at 3:00 pm (yes they were open for business!) 2) The temperature in our room was between 72 & 78 F the entire time we were there. We called the front desk twice the first day and in person twice the second day. The second day maintenance came and said it was too high but just open the window. This is a busy corner so we heard traffic and sirens all night while we languished is fumes and sweat. The room was comfortable and clean and the buffet breakfast was excellent but we need our sleep!!
