Booked the hotel as a package on Lastminute.com of 2 nights to Rome with flights included. Used this website as a guide with my girlfriend as we deliberated between this hotel and two others, eventually we chose Residenza Domiziano and i am delighted we did so.
Taxi driver on arrival knew how to locate the hotel however I was a bit unsure when i saw the entrance but don’t be mislead. As previously said by people you have to buzz the hotel who will promptly let you into a court yard, you then turn into a second door up a flight of stairs to a third door which is the actual entrance but we had to buzz into that once. Although different this is a good thing as you know you and you stuff is going to be safe when you stay there. On arrival reception staff helpful and welcoming ( in fact all reception staff we met were more than happy to help and were polite).
The whole hotel has obviously had a bit of money spent on it recently as it is well furnished. Our room itself was adequate size and was new but traditional. I can compare the size because i had previously stayed The Hotel Forum in Rome which is four star and shared similar size of room. Bathroom was clean and well kept. There is also a mini bar and a new flat screen tv on the wall with lots of channels!
We were given the option for breakfast, you just have to state the time you want it and the drink you want and they will knock on the dorr bang on the time you stated with a tray full of croissants, rolls and jam, you can pay extra for thing like ham and cheese but that was enough for us. Quality way to start the day and allows you to be bit more lazy and stay in bed!
The location is the selling point, close to the trevi fountain and is a nice walk not dodgy. The square the hotels is just off has an atm, small food store, restaurants so you wont go hungry. If you go the opposite way from the square you to some other stores and is also a nice area!
The negatives of the hotel as stated it has thin walls our room was the room furthest away from the reception and could sometimes hear the odd noise at night, but this is a small problem. The other problem is the hotel is quite intimate and its hard to get lost and not recognised, you could look at this as a positive or a negative depending on what you want from a hotel.
I would strongly recommend this hotel for people who want to be close to the sights in a nice areas, are going to spend the majority of the day seeing the sights and want a nice place to sleep at night. I would not recommend it to people who will spend a lot of time in the hotel. Its also not a place to go on holiday with the boys either because if you get rowdy and a bit loud on your return at night after a coupe jars it will be noticed, I know what its like!

Stayed here for 8 days. Was hard to find the hotel at night, especially with a taxi driver who was geting frustrated. But, once in, the place is spotless. It's up a flight of stairs and the entrance looks more like another apartment, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and great to stay in. LCD TV with loads of channels, good shower, small room but just what we needed for 2 of us.
Staff are very friendly, rooms cleaned and beds straightened everyday.
Location is great. 1 minute walk to Metro stop on the A line. The hotel is on Barberini Piazza right by the fountain. 10 minute walk to the Trevi fountain down the main shopping street. 15 minutes from Pantheon, 10 mins from Villa Borghese.
Slightly noisey at night as i think the walls are thin, but this is a minor thing and will not keep you awake. Breakfast in Rome is usually coffee and croissants, which is exactly what you get, and was enough of a quick snack for us before we headed out.
We had a new guy trying to check us out on our last day and he struggled with the receipts and credit card machine, but this would happen to a new person anywhere.
Great hotel, would stay here again. We got a special out of season price so not sure what it's usually charged at, but i think ?400 for 8 days is excellent.
