Casa del Conde de Pinofiel - Antequera, Spain 0 star hotel

Address: La Tercia, 10, Antequera, 29200
Casa del Conde de Pinofiel details:  The Casa del Conde de Pinofiel, from 1762, is a real “Casa Palacio” (a kind of luxury residence from 18th century); a wonderful example of civil Baroque architecture entirely restored in May 2004 in order to recondition it as a luxury 4-star Hotel in the historical center of Antequera. An architectural jewel of History where every detail has received the attention that deserves, taking a great deal of care over the fact of trying to mantain every original item.
Doors, windows, stone and brick paneling, columns, paving...everything has been conserved to create an unique atmosphere that will make you revive the history stored up within these walls.

Hotel has also a Meeting & Conference room for 25-30 people, a Bar for breakfast service only, a little chapel with the patron saint of the city: The Virgin of Remedios.

The hotel was situated in a one way street which was extremely difficult to find (badly sign-posted) and in fact we eventually iarrived at the hotel from the wrong direction. We expected parking facilities near the hotel ... but in fact the PUBLIC parking facilities were a considerable walk away. After our long walk in considerable heat we enquired as to the whereabouts of the bar ... only to be told "the bar only opens for breakfast" which is great I supose for alcoholics desperate for a drink in the morning. All that was on offer was water. I suppose the problem could have been aleviated to a small extent if there were mini-bars provided in the room, but alas no. The hotel itself is beautiful, a beautifully restored 1762 palace with a central courtyard around which the rooms are placed. The room was clean with a comfortable bed and in all having much character and charm. Shame about the lack of bar/refreshment facilities.
