Hotel Am Technik Museum - Speyer, Germany 

We stayed at this hotel for four nights as we were attending the European Cadillac Rally which was taking place on the adjacent Technik Museum site, and this was the Rally Hotel. The hotel is fairly basic, but clean and at 75 Euros for a double room you can't complain. We breakfasted at the hotel which was satisfactory although limited, and had a group buffet dinner for 100+ which was quite reasonable. There was no internet room, although you could use your laptop in reception (does this connect to their WiFi?). There is plenty of parking which you don't get in the centre of fascinating historic Speyer, the town being 10/15 minutes walk away, and the Technik museum 5 minutes walk - just across their car park, in fact. The jetty for boat trips on the Rhine is again 10/15 minutes walk. Some rooms are in similarly barrack-looking annexes. The staff were friendly although lacking in English, and at times one girl was trying vainly to man the reception and adjacent small bar. We did have a problem for three days with a 6am call we hadn't asked for as well as the later one we did, they sorted this out only for the last morning..... There is a second Technik museum at Sinsheim about 15/20 miles away, both are really well worth a visit, and you probably need several days to do them each justice.
