Luna Valmangude - Albufeira, Portugal 

Average hotel, not as bad as expected!

Have just returned from the Valmangude after spending a week there with my Wife and 2 kids. Arrived without any delays to be booked into a groundfloor apartment No. 107 where we found very obvious signs on the door jam of forced entry. I was amazed to find that there had been no repairs to the obviously jimmied door, and no attempt to hide the damage! We requested politely another room as i was unhappy with the condition of the front door and that it faced out onto the road where you could make a swift entry and exit without to much trouble, as we arrived on a Sunday I was told that we could not be moved until the morning, which was fair enough. We didn't really unpack and to be honest this put a dampener on the start of our break away. First thing on Monday morning we again requested another room which was done without too much fuss. We found ourselves on the 4th floor at the other end of the hotel No. 410, much better! better view, better apartment and a much happier family! Now our holiday could get going, Everthing you would expect in a self catering apartment was present, cutlery,plates and so on, the apartment itself is very spacious and catered for our needs adequately. I found myself mending the flush on the toilet, and proping the shower head, after requesting the move i couldn't bring myself to moan about the flush! and it was an easy fix anywhy. The rooms were cleaned daily and the maids were very pleasant, I have to say after the hiccup with the first room was sorted out, We found all reception staff friendly and helpful. we only checked out the entertainment on one night, A guitarist/singer called Tony, wasn't bad, and made a fine attempt to keep us entertained, The pool was fine, cleaned each morning, and the grounds around it are really well kept, didn't check out the kiddie pool as my kids are older, seemed to be enough loungers but not enough umbrellas and I have to admit to joining the lounger towel run in the mornings! it wasn't that bad, if you got there before 9am you had a fair chance of getting one:) While we were there it was mainly familys with kids ranging from toddlers to teenagers, so it was nice, not to rowdy, the pool could get a bit hectic but all in all it was fine, a nice bunch of people while we were there. The noise mentioned by others with the traffic is true, and sometimes starting very early, also when people were checking out for early flights, the clack,clack of rolling suitcases might wake you! We enjoyed the break, the place itself is adequate, just. Its really up to yourself after that. As for Albufeira its a nice town, with houndreds of places doing an English breakfast! take your time to explore you can do it on the cheap, or not, its up to your self. Oh the snack bar at the pool is really handy, and some freindly staff as well.

Just returned from my stag Do with forty of my friends. If any one was staying there begining of July they would tell you that we were no hassle at all. (we porbably made the place a better place to stay). Staff are very friendly, the rooms for the price are very clean and are of a good size. The hotel is situated perfectly for the old and new town. I would reccommend this hotel to both familys and groups of people. I will go back some time. To the person who mentioned the stag party?? Dont you think it makes your stay a little more enjoyable??
