We weren't sure about booking a holiday without using a Travel Agent but found that the price was cheap for a quick get away! The weather was so hot got up to 29degrees, the resort itself had a lot to do for everyone. Club Albufeira is actually walking distance from the Old Town and the main strip, or just a taxi ride away. When we first arrived we had already arranged car hire for the week with Sixte they were ?60 for the week which was well worth it!! They gave us map and was really easy to drive and find Club Albufeira from the airport and took us 30mins, well worth the price because a taxi would have cost about ?40! Our room was gorgeous, always had plenty of clean towels, kept clean and very spacious. The pools were large so everyone was spaced out and its good for families aswell as couples. Because we had rented the car we were able to drive out to different areas like Alvor and Villamoura which were lovely to go to the beaches or just to go out to dinner for a change of scenery. Again not far away and the petrol at the end of the week was really cheap aswell. I would reccommend this place to families and couples alike for a quick get away, you get your moneys worth. I felt really relaxed when I came back and would definatley go back there again!!

My family (me, husband and two teenage daughters) stayed in Apartment 383 on Phase 3 of the resort. The apartment is located at the top of up a very steep hill but within walking distance from the mini market and reception. The apartment is on the ground floor and has a terrace with sunbeds and patio furniture. The apartment is spacious, very clean and has two double bedrooms and a fully fitted kitchen which is open plan to the lounge/dining area. There are also two full bathrooms with baths/showers (one ensuite to the master bedroom with a jacuzzi bath) and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Maid service was four times throughout our stay and the towels were changed each time. We overlooked the heated pool and snack bar but even when the pool was busy we stayed on our terrace as it felt more private. The weather was exceptionally bad for the end of May and we had rain every day athough we did see some sun late afternoon/early evening. We did have a visit towards the end of our holiday from Charles who tried to get us interested in buying into a holiday points system but we made it clear we weren't interested and there was no hard sell from him at all. We were there on a timeshare exchange but unlike the RCI members who checked in the same time as us, we did not have to pay a utilities fee for our apartment. The mini market is well stocked if a little overpriced but only to be expected from an on-site supermarket. The owner is very helpful and even stocks English bacon and sausages. About a 15 minute walk away on the other side of the road to Club Albufeira is a large supermarket called Alli Super which has a cold meat and cheese counter in addition to a large selection of other produce. If I had hired a car, I would have done most of my shopping here. We either bussed it into town or took a cab (which varied from 4 to 7 euros depending if we were in the new town or old town and the time of night). We visited both the new and old towns and our preference was for the old town - it has more character and seemed to have less all female/male parties although bar street was very busy and noisey. All in all I would recommend Club Albufeira as long as you are staying in a newer type apartment on Phase 3 (Albufeira Village). We used an apartment near reception to get ready in on the day of departure and it was dark, tired and dated (apartment 120).
