4I have just returned from a week in Albufeira, myself and my boyfriend stayed at the Real Bellavista and were very impressed. We booked a package deal through the thomson website and paid ?311 each for a bed and breakfast board.
The hotel is located between the old town and the strip, it is about a 15 minute walk to both.
There is a courtesy bus that runs throughout the day which stops at the old town, the strip and Eulalia hotel (sister hotel). The Eulalia has a private beach which is well worth a visit, sunbeds cost 10 euros each.
If you are going to use the bus you need to wait outside about 15 minutes before departure as there is limited space. The runs at night get very busy and it seems to be a free for all with people piling onto the bus- we found it better to walk! Alternatively you can order a taxi at reception, taxis are 4 euros and that will take you to anywhere within a 4 mile radius for that price- very reasonable.
The rooms in the hotel are very clean and towels will be replaced everyday if needed. The spa facilities can be used for 10 euros per session. This includes a turkish bath and sauna, there is also a gym that can be used at 15 euros per session.
If you have a late flight the hotel will hold your bags behind reception so you can go off for the day without worrying about your things.
The hotel pool is a reasonable size but sunbeds can be scarce as people put out their towels and bugger off for the day! There is a heated pool inside and a jacuzzi which was nice when the pool was too chilly.
The breakfast provided by the restaurant is a buffet style and consisted of pastries, cereal, friut and a cooked breakfast- all were served from 7am to 10am.
In terms of the old town, fishermans beach is worth a visit, you have to pay for the sunbeds or you can just lay a towel down. Be warned the sea being the Atlantic is very cold - it was high 30's when we were there and the sea was freezing all day!
There are plenty of restaurants around the town, I didn't really find a favourite restaurant but Tony's does a nice pizza. There is a nice chinese between the hotel and the strip on the main road.
The strip has plenty of nightlife, Matt's bar at the end of the strip is very reasonable with happy hour until 11pm drinks were 3 euros each. There are loads of shops in both the old town and the strip to pick up souvenirs etc.
Overall the stay was very enjoyable and I would recommednt this hotel for a holiday in Albufeira.
