Bayside Salgados Golf & Beach Resort - Albufeira, Portugal 

We just spent 2weeks at bayside and it was dreadful, i have a 6mth old and a 4year old and when i booked the holiday i requested we be near the heart of things but a 10min walk away so that we could get some peace with the children. i was told we were just 10 mins away from alburfeira town and a 10 min walk to the beach. After reading the reviews before we went i was so upset and thought about cancelling but then just thought we would make the most of it and that maybe people were just exaggerating....... they wasnt!!!!! it really is in the middle of nowhere!! we must have spent over ?200 in cabs and they drove so fast i was scared for our safety especially as i was holding my 6mth old on my lap!! if you are unfortunate to have booked already and reading this before you go all i can say is take extra bit of money and be prepared for en expensive holiday!! alburfeira town is really lovely and we definatley thinking about going back and staying nearer. Eating out, i would reccomend the chinese which is only about 15min walk away and great food and cheap and the italian prima pasta is nice which again is only 15min walk but thats it im afraid apart from that its a case of cabs into town every night. Best place we found was a bar called scoobys which is a 10min cab ride away and only about 4euro, they have great swimming pool, kids play area, crazy golf, indoor play area, great food, we only found it on our last week and spent every day there after. If you need any local info while you there then the chap who owns the little shop on the corner is brilliant. Best thing about our holiday was the weather whch was great and we met some really lovely people. I dont know how the hotel gets away with advertising themselves as being in alurfeira and near the beach etc. im in the middel of writing to our travel agents trying to get compensation as i believe we were misold a holiday.
