Hotel Topazio - Albufeira, Portugal 

Terrible Topazio!

i have just returned from a weeks holiday in portugal with my husband and ten year old son,we got a last minute deal to the hotel topazio.We checked in to the hotel with no problems at 9.30a.m but were disgusted on seeing our room,it was tiny and seriously out-dated with 3 beds squashed together,there was a tiny balcony overlooking waste ground,the bathroom was also in need of modernisation and had rust around the taps,the water coming out of them was brown.The hotel has 46 rooms and we were told there was only 4 booked out altogether,not a good sign. The pool was tiny and filthy and had only 18 beds around it.the beach was lovely but it is about a 20min walk away.The property was near enough to the strip which was just aswell because the hotel had nothing to offer.I was so disgusted with the hotel we spent the day on the phone to home trying to get somewhere else to stay,at 4pm we checked out and checked in to a far superior hotel which was clean and had plenty facilities so we could finally relax and enjoy our hoilday.

Stayed for 4 nights, 5 days at the Topazio Hotel in Albufeira during May 2005. Did take a while to locate although it is only about 8 minutes walk from "The Strip" of Albufeira. The hotel has 46 rooms with air conditioning, a small balcony, tv. Very clean well kept hotel. Staff very friendly and very helpful. No problem checking in early, i.e. ahead of 2.00 p.m. and on departure day was able to hold on to the room until leaving at 5.30 p.m. Very good value for money. Hot breakfast was included in the room rate I availed of, "hot" breakfast alternated between scrambled egg and boiled eggs. Would skip the scrambled egg, boiled eggs were fine!
