Sunbay Park Hotel - Civitavecchia, Italy     

The outside was a little run down. The pool and cabana looked abandoned and the deep pool was empty with no fence around it. Not a good place to take the kids. I was in a standard room facing the beach. The ocean view was nice, but the run down dock detracted from the beauty of the location. The room was sparsely decorated, clean and the bathroom looked like it was recently remodeled. The veranda was small, but cozy. I had some bad clams on a bread appetizer offered before dinner in the restaurant and was sick most of the night. I was there in the spring. It was quiet and there was not much going on locally. The hotel is probably hopping with locals in the summertime if they fill that pool up. This place is a good value if you just got off a plane and needs some sleep to catch a cruise in the morning.

La parte esterna dell’hotel era un po’ malridotta. La piscina e il gazebo sembravano abbandonati; la piscina era profonda, ma non c’era acqua nè alcuna protezione intorno al bordo. Certo non un posto dove portare dei bambini. Eravamo in una camera “standard” di fronte la spiaggia. La vista avrebbe potuto essere molto bella, se non fosse stato per il cattivo stato in cui versava il porto. La camera era pulita e qui e là c’era qualche decorazione, il bagno sembrava essere stato rimesso a nuovo da poco. Il terrazzo era piccolo ma accogliente. Prima di cena è stato offerto un aperitivo a base di molluschi, devo averne preso uno guasto, perché sono stata male tutta la notte. Siamo stati al Sunbay in primavera, era tutto tranquillo e non c’erano molti passatempi a disposizione. Probabilmente in estate l’hotel pullula di gente del posto e credo che quella piscina sia sempre piena. Se, ad esempio, siete appena scesi da un aereo e avete bisogno di una camera dove dormire per poi partire per una crociera la mattina seguente, questo hotel offre un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo.
