4We stayed at the Spatz for 4 nights. The hotel is fine, nothing spectacular but good value for money, very clean and everything felt very new. The staff are all charming and helpful. Breakfast was good and included in the price. Probably the major minus point was that it was very hot when we were there and there is no aircon - just a fan
The hotel is situated in the old Jewish area of Kamierez. We are very glad to have stayed in this area as if we had not I don't think we would have spent so much time there. There are loads of bars and different types of restaurants including some kosher restaurants which probably would not have been found in the main centre of Krakow. The whole area was very busy at night around the bars / restaurants but felt very safe. Just around the corner was a market which on a daily basis sold lovely fruit, vegetables and flowers and on a Sunday was a massive clothes market. There is a very interesting (and sad) Jewish museum and some synagogues are open to visitors.
It took approx 15 mins to walk into the town square of Krakow which was very impressive - again lots of bars and cafes. There is so much to see and do in Krakow including the castle, cathedral, churches and of course the pony and carriage ride (we paid 100 zl). There is also Auchswitz nearby and we went on a trip to Zakopane to see the Tetra mountains. We recommend this place - and to make it easier still everyone seems to speak English.
