Due its ideal situation, in the centre of Kraków, you can visit the Collegiate Church of St. Florian, a historic church which stands at the northern end of the Matejko Square. It was built between 1185 and 1216 and consumed by fire numerous times in the 12th, 16th and 17th centuries. The present appearance of the church is the result of a Baroque rebuilding that followed the Polish-Swedish wars. The church was also the historical King's Route (Via Regia) for the royal funeral processions to the Wawel Cathedral.

Wawel Cathedral – the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Stanisław and Vaclav – is Poland's national sanctuary. It has a 1,000-year history and was the traditional coronation site of Polish monarchs. Pope John Paul II had considered being buried there.
