Great hotel, older but full of great charm and wonderful staff. Hotel offers slow (but free) internet service, great buffet, and Large rooms. My mother needed somewhere to be pampered and she loved this hotel! Highly recommend.

Annex Apartment Stay

We booked annex apartment number 3 through Active Hotels. It was without a hitch. Being the first time we have travelled independently we were expecting nightmares at every turn and rip offs at every stage. Not here! we arrived by taxi (60zloty) at around 10o'clock at night at the main Elektor Hotel. The manager knew who we were before we walked in the door and the porter was waiting to escort us to our apartment. Now the website said 50 metres from the Hotel so naturally, I expect a walk of at least 1/4 of a mile up a steep hill. Nope, over the road and less than 50 metres down a pleasant quiet street (sw Marka if you have a map) we arrive at our annex building. Through four secure doors(keys provided) and a cctv monitored entrance we are in our room. It is quiet, peaceful and looks over the gardens over the road. Sure, like much of Poland, the decor is dated, but more importantly it is spankingly clean. everything works and a well stocked fridge complete with price list at reasonable rates is there. The heating is modern and variable and the windows all open to varying degrees of ventilation. The only problem we had was that the curtains were inadequate and we were woken by light flooding in to the room early on. When we had breakfast the following morning back at the hotel, it was amply supplied and taken in pleasant dining rooms. The staff really pride themselves on service and they could not do enough for us, even odd requests like elastoplasts, taxis and baggage storage presented no problem to these guys. The reason I mention this is that it seems to be against the nature of some polish people to be polite even when they are trying to sell you something!!! Just as many were absolutely lovely however, so dont be put off if the first waitress you find is a huffy little trollop, the next one could be very nice. After breakfast we found out that the location stated on the website was absolutely accurate!!! two blocks(4 minutes stroll) in to the stunning main square!!!! genius. Though not the most exquisite accomodation you will ever stay in, location and cleanliness has to make up for any downside and all for the price of an english motel. We found some nice looking hotels while in Krakow but wouldnt dream of staying at any of them when we return. Annex number 3 for us! Just one other thing, the matresses were very very very soft and also low. but at 60 pence a pint ,probably a good thing!!!!!!!
