Rooms were small. Given a twin room not a double, had to come back to reception to get it changed. Carpets need renewing and extra cost of car parking was not mentioned. However overall our stay was pleasant & good value, staff were helpful and friendly, location was very good.

small room. Small double bed. friends had smoking room(they are non smokers) and the smell of stale smoke made their stay unpleasant. Breakfast was very average - I wouldn't recommend it. It was our 3rd hotel stay in Poland (2nd in Krakow) within the week, and was by far the most basic within the price range. Location was good.

This hotels main strenght is it's loaction, 2min walk from the main square, overlooking the Planty and City walls. My main issue with the Monopol is that I book to stay at the Regent in Kasmirez. Was transferred to the Monopol as there was a problem with our room. Then paid they undercharged me (having not realising this), and subsequantly sent me strongly worded letters suggesting that if donot pay the extra that they will be taking me to court! And took the money off my credit card without my authorisation. Utterly useless incompetance. Ps The rooms are small but clean.

From the road the hotel doesn't look anything special, but once inside we were pleasantly surprised. Clean and spacious, the staff were very professional. polite and friendly, all spoke some English. The room had enough space, although for some reason we had a single bed as well as the double bed for the 2 of us! Room clean, bathroom looked new, the room had a TV (without any English channels!), hairdryer, fan etc and was cleaned daily. Our room was at the front and the trams on the road were noisy but we didn't have any trouble sleeping (even with the window open) on the comfy beds. Talking to other guests the rooms at the back are worse for noise as they overlook a car park where the mini bus / coaches are parked and the drivers hang out there, talking and leaving the engines running until the early hours! The hotel is 2 minutes walk to the square and is ideally located for just about everything. Wawel Castle is 5 minutes walk as well. A great restaurant just a few doors down from the hotel (on the left hand side as you face hotel) is the Wine House, lovely garden at the back, great service and fantastic food, and very reasonably priced. Auschwitz trip is a must, can't recommend the Communist Tour run by the Crazy Guides as they never turned up after we booked them.
