Sol Costa Daurada - Salou, Spain 

Couple in early 30s, child of 3 and Nanna in 60s. We all had a fabulous time. This hotel was reviewed fairly badly last year and we took a chance and went along to find it was really good and went back again this year. It is even better this year. We went half board again for 10 days this time. On arrival, the receptionists all speak fluent English, baggage trolley to take you to your room - my son loved riding on it. Breakfast was wonderful and you can choose lunch or dinner to have each day on half board, lunch is very quiet. We ate far too much because the selection was endless at every meal and the desserts were fabulous! The hotel is clean, rooms have air conditioning (heaven!), they have a hygiene certificate which I feel backs up the food being well cooked and prepared well too. The pool is fab, especially the one for the kids (my boy never wanted to get out), the staff are lovely. On the bar, they can be a little hesitant in serving though (but we got Sangria from the local supermarket and kept it in the hotel room fridge), with a young child spend a lot of time in evening in the room. But when the room was facing the pool and entertainment, this is just fine. Entertainment did go on until midnight every night and quite loud when on first floor but as long as you are prepared to sleep from then its just fine. Mini disco at 9pm for little ones and different entertainment every night for all 14 nights. Salou beach is beautiful and always well used by the locals and holiday makers alike. Palm tree lined, just wonderful to walk the length of the beach. We found a bus that takes us back to Reus Airport called Aerobus - Tourist Information gave me details - was 5.60 Euros each instead of a Taxi - 28 Euros for the ride or hotel bus 25 euros each. Good to know Tel: (--) - 9am to 10pm. I will be going back to this hotel yet again next year - we all loved it! Great weather, great food, great pool, wonderful beach - fabulous holiday! Shame had to come home....

Booked Hotel Via Alpharooms. The Hotel is a 15-20 taxi ride from Barcelona (Reus) Aiport and taxi was 28 Euros. Arrived at hotel early and see signed checkin 14:00 but thus being few hours early this was no trouble to check us in early. Hotel room was basic was good enough. Shower, Bath, MiniFridge, Balcony. Hotel was a short walk to everything. Beach 10-15 mins, bars and resturants - 10 mins. Porta Venutra we didnt go to but could see this in distance prob 20 min walk but hotel does bus ride there frequently throughout the day. This also goes for beach. The pool was chilly but refreshing never a lack of sunbeds even when it got busy. The pool bar was good and offered some quick snacks. Resturant I was pleasantly suprised... Breakfast included.. eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, fruit etc. Evening meals included rice, pasta, chips, loads of meat and many other options. The hotel has a gym which is small but could be usful if you wanted to use. Also has indoor pool and jacuzzi which didnt use due to requiring a swimming cap "can be purchased there". Ping pong. Overall I wuld recommend this hotel... has all the assets for a 4 star but not the luxury.... but well worth price and location. shall be staying here again.
