Auberge Du Bonheur - Tilburg, Netherlands     

I have traveled to Tilburg for business nearly once a month for five years and have stayed in most of the major hotels of the town. Still, once I discoverd at the Auberge, I always stayed with them... whenever there was a room free.... As a matter of fact, this is the only criticism I could make : you have to book early because there is much more demand than number of rooms available (26 only).... Of particular notice was the fact that this is a very quiet hotel inside, which is certainly due to the fact that many customers stay regularly and have therefore a respect for the others which becomes an exception, even in the top rank hotels. Besides, the rooms were always most clean and cosy and, the only time there was a problem with the hot water, I was given a bottle of Bordeaux on check out... nice attention.... The breakfast was always nice and plentiful in the round dining room where one may often have a glimpse on rabbits or squirrels on the outside yard.... Staff was always friendly and ready to help which made every stay a pleasure.... Frankly, I wonder why there are some negative comments, especially when one considers that the hotel is always fully booked... business men are not masochists after all.... All in all, one of the very best souvenir in the numerous hotels I stayed throughout Europe... and certainly one of the quietest.... Definitely worth going through Tilburg, even if the town itself is not that remarkable.... One more fact : I booked once for some japanese colleagues and they seemed very satisfied. But this this is when a second group of japanese colleagues requested the Auberge as well that I realised that the "mouth to ears" is also valid in Tokyo !!!...

stayed here for a conference which happens every 4 years in Tilburg. My 3rd stay in the area and this is certainly the best hotel. A small 16 bed hotel in the woods but by a main road - although amazingly quiet. I cannot agree with the bad review previously posted, after all it is a small, European hotel. I wouldn't expect air-conditioning and it is safe to open the window. The restaurant has a Michelin recommendation, so you would expect to book in advance. Bar service is a bit haphazard - they tried to serve soup after the main course!! But, they were so apologetic and they gave us free tea/coffee. Staff are so nice and room fine. Breakfast ordinary- 2 areas to sit in but they are both OK. Next time in Tilburg I will stay at this friendly, quiet, small well-situated hotel again. The best in the area.
