Hotel Schimmelpenninck Huys - Groningen, Netherlands 

This hotel could not be more central. It is built around a courtyard off a pedestrian street close to the Martini tower. This makes it excellent for access to the main areas of town but difficult for car access and parking. I didn?t use much of the hotel facilities but my observations were thus: - Check in/out was friendly and efficient - Room was on the small side but nicely furnished and spotlessly clean - Bathroom was a good size and well equipped - I experienced no problem with noise All in all I thought it was good value for money. I?d happily stay here again.

We booked this hotel via internet and specifically asked for a quite room. So we got a room on the courtyard and guess what. The pavement of the courtyard was under construction and we were waken up at 07:00 h. by construction work right under our window. After 08:00 h. it got quite. At 09:00 h we came down for breakfast and the construction workers were quitely sitting in the courtyard, so why the hurry at 07:00 h. Mentioning this while paying the bill, didn't result in any apology. So we left the issue but found it very careless of a hotelmanagement of this quality hotel. Be warned!
