We needed a night's accommodation on a road journey back from southern Italy and came across the Hotel Touring in Carpi probably on this website. We booked on pot-luck as there were few reviews and was shown as a "boutique hotel", which can mean all sorts of things. However - this is a great place to stop. It is a 1950's building that has recently been completely refurbished with upmarket furnishings in a very tasteful style. Extremely helpful and friendly staff and well signposted from the autostrada. As we were there on a Sunday, the retaurant was closed, but the receptionist recommended a nearby restaurant (Caffe Teatro), called ahead for us to ensure that they would be expecting us and booked us a table. And a good place to eat as well. The town itself, like many places in Italy, is an architectural delight and well worth a visit on its own merits. So,all in all, from taking a chance on an unknown hotel in an unknown location, we had a very pleasent night's accommodation
