First - Somma Lombardo, Italy 

I admit I was a little wary arriving at Malpensa Airport--would the negative reviews of this hotel be borne out? Would I end up waiting forever for the shuttlebus? Would the rooms be sub-par? I am happy to report that none of that occurred during my stay! The shuttlebus arrived about 20-25 minutes after we phoned the hotel to pick us up. In fact, we first tried to get a cab to the hotel, but the taxi driver said "No - take free shuttle", and actually called the hotel on his cell phone and let me talk to the front desk agent. The rooms were nicely appointed--not huge, but adequate with nice bedding. The restaurant is in the basement and is good but overpriced (bottled water is outrageously expensive there). Breakfast is good (and is included with your room) -- you may want to try the restaurant next door for dinner. Re: shuttle timeliness - I think people need to temper their expectations a bit when it comes to being picked up at the airport. Yes, the hotel is close to the airport, but that doesn't mean the shuttle should come instantaneously just for you. When we were picked up, 3 other people were also waiting for the same shuttle, 2 of whom arrived after us. So the first guy probably waited 25 minutes, and the last two 15 minutes. Besides, it is more critical to make it TO the airport in a timely manner--I think this is where they put the emphasis. In the mornings (or when you need to go to the airport for your flight) - you should be asked to reserve your shuttle ride to the airport when you check in. If they don't mention this, ASK TO MAKE THE RESERVATION. They will only guarantee rides to those who reserve in advance. For International flights out, you should be at the airport at least 2 hours in advance (won't let you check in under 1 hour to departure). There is a big duty-free shopping area, so you may want to spend some time there.

We only stayed here overnight between flights, they picked us up from the airport and dropped us back again. Getting into Milan from here would be quite a long trip so this is really just an airport hotel. Was quite adaquate for our needs, we had dinner here which was good but left before breakfast to an early flight. Clean and tidy, staff were helpful and friendly.
