Hotel De Plataan - Delft, Netherlands 

Just returned from a 3 night stay in Delft at the Hotel de Plataan. It was our favorite spot during 13 days in the Netherlands. The decor is very funky, and the rooms are comfortable. We stayed in a standard room, and while it wasn't huge, there was plenty of room for us and all of our stuff. There are a built-in desk and desk chair and a leather arm chair in the room, as well as a small closet, luggage rack, and umbrella (essential in the Netherlands!) The sink was in the room and the toilet/shower stall was separate. The shower worked great and there was plenty of hot water. Comfy bed and pillows. There is a bar downstairs, and we were given a complimentary drink on arrival. The hotel is on a small square with several plane trees (hence the name) and has a lovely terrace for drinks or breakfast or whatever. Breakfast was ample and delicious - several breads, boiled or scrambled eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, juice, etc. The people at the desk were always very pleasant and helpful, checking train schedules, calling taxis, etc. There is also a computer available for internet access, free of charge, and the hotel provides wireless internet access. We also loved the city of Delft - fabulous cafes, restaurants, shopping, lovely canals, churches, and museums. We'd go back in a heartbeat and stay at Hotel de Plataan. Very charming!
