Executive Suite Description
For nearly 200years Palazzo Capua dominated the Sliema landscape. This splendid monument to a by-gone age has been referred to as probably one of the oldest and finest buildings in Sliema. Its allure is further enhanced by the romance bound to its past residents, most prominent among who were the star-crossed residents who gave it their name, Prince of Capua, Carlo di Borbone and his Irish wife Penelope.
Palazzo Capua is first mentioned by Thomas MacGill’s Handbook or Guide for Strangers visiting Malta in the 1840’s, who refer to it as a fine colonnaded palace built by a Russian banker, and the only building worth noting in the then village of Sliema.
Tucked away behind a magnificent façade, the 200 year old Palazzo Capua houses 5 exquisitely decorated executive suites, four of which are duplex, designed with great attention to detail and comfort. All suites are uniquely themed to one another, yet giving a luxurious feel in color, texture and design. The sumptuously designed split-level suites also enjoy extensive colonnaded terraces.
The suites enjoy plenty of natural light and include the following amenities

This hotel describes itsel as boutique, which I understand to mean small and stylish. It is neither of those.
Our room was large (we paid extra for a junior suite) but had a balcony the size of a window ledge. Decor was clean but a bit tired. The air conditioning was very noisy and produced no cold air at all. However, the only way to turn it off (as advised by the hotel staff) was to open the doors to the balcony, thus triggering the sensor.
The pool is actually on the roof of the sister Palace Hotel next door, and is something of a walk away. When you get there it's lovely though, with fantastic views across to Valletta. It's somewhat spoiled by their policy of playing background music.
Location-wise the Victoria is excellent - easy to walk to bus stops or to catch the ferry to Valletta. The best restaurants are in St Julians, which is a 10 minute walk away.
We only stayed for breakfast as there were so many nice restaurants locally. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of cereals, toast, juice and some cooked items.
I would pay a bit extra and stay at the Palace Hotel - much more modern and luxurious.
