Virgilio Grand Hotel details: The Virgilio Grand Hotel has recently been built in Sperlonga, an enchanting tourist resort on the coast of Latium. The facility, which consists of a three-building complex conceived and furnished in a perfect modern style, is in the city centre at a very short distance from the sea.
The Grand Hotel, which is entirely air-conditioned, contains an ample hall for your most enjoyable moments divided into several lounges featuring an American bar, corners for your relax, and a plasma screened television.

The Virgilio Grand Hotel is a new hotel situated in the lovely town resort of Sperlonga on the Pontino waterfront. It was right on these beaches where Enea , his father Anchise and the son Ascanio shored, running away from Troy.

The hotel is made up of 3 buildings and furbished in modern style.

The Virgilio Grand Hotel is approximately 200 metres away from the shore.

The hotel comprises a large lobby, 2 american bars, lounge, plasma TV screen, internet stations, reception with information desk and a terrace situated by the swimming-pool.

Swimming-pool, with water massage and therapeutic waterfal, is open until autumn, thanks to the mild climate in Sperlonga.

Location

Sperlonga is a renowned tourist resort that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea in one of the most scenic stretches of the Riviera of Ulysses, namely the territory that extends from the Circeo promontory to Gaeta.
The historical centre, which opens onto the sea and splits this wonderful coastal region into the eastwards and the westwards sections, appears as a fascinating tangle of houses crossed by long stairways, flights of small arches in between narrow alleys, and enchanting panoramic views of the sky and the sea.
The other section of the beach - eastward-bound and full of atmosphere - hosts the archaeological site connected with the remains of the Roman site known as Emperor Tiberius' Villa and the nearby homonym grotto (whose finds are displayed in the adjacent National Archaeological Museum). This section also includes the Blue Oasis of Tiberius’ Villa.
Another point of attraction of Sperlonga is represented by the two lakes, the Lungo Lake and the St. Puoto Lake, where it is possible to practice water skiing.
During each of the past six years the sea of Sperlonga has been given the award of the “European Blue Flag”, a recognition enhanced by a second one, the title of “The Most Beautiful Suburb of Italy”.

We travel a lot and we see a lot of hotels. In general we are not getting too excited for having minibar and AC in a room at a 4-star hotel. It is somehow expected. We had the executive suite which was way too small (approx 250ft). The advertised massage shower never worked. It says it sleeps 4 but actually it is a small room with a double bed and a bunk bed. Breakfast was OK. Parking is very tricky if you drive a big car. Staff is very unfriendly. When we went to beach, they informed us of the wrong price for the umbrella and the beach beds. When I questioned the price with the beach staff ,they contacted the hotel staff. An argument ensued as it seems that the hotel staff had no clue of the rates. Eventually after a huge argument and demanding to see the hotel owner, the hotel staff agreed to pay the difference in price. Shortly after, I was refunded the whole amount. All in all a very frustrating experience. BTW. It did not helpthat I speak Italian. I watched the reception activity while working on my laptop and it seems that the italian guests are treated differently than the foreigners.

This was a very comfortable hotel, the staft spoke English, the rooms were large and well appointed with comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet was the best we had at a hotel in Italy. We enjoyed walking on the beach, but the afternoon I spent laying in the sun by the beautiful swimming pool was totaly relaxing. Of the restaurants that we ate at we enjoyed Trattoria Scylla the most, best atmostsphere and food for the price.
