Charming attractive hotel with lots of character and friendly staff. Quiet and brilliantly located near to all the main sites. Quiet area in the evening so if you want to go out clubbing every night, perhaps not for you, but there are enough little restaurants nearby including a lovely fish place. My room wasn't enormous (but I was on my own so they gave me a small double) but the simple elegance of the decor (designed by Belgian designer) made it seem more spacious than it was, it was light and airy and I could see Aghia Sophia and the Blue Mosque from my window. Lots of nice touches like lovely carpets on the landings, a bookshelf where travellers take and leave books, a nice roof terrace, and delicious breakfast. Advertised rates were ?150 for a double but I booked on the web at ?109 per night for a double which I think was excellent value for a nice boutique type hotel. I intend to go back to Istanbul and to stay at the Celal Sultan again. Oh and I left a blouse behind which they found, kept and friends of mine picked up when they were in the area shortly afterwards. That is what I call great service.
