Hotel Cosima - Vaterstetten, Germany 

We stayed here with others who were going to Octoberfest. This is a no frills place, but we found the updated rooms very clean, attractive, and comfortable. There was no elevator, so we did have to haul our baggage up several flights. Breakfast foods were always plentiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. The Italian restaurant attached to the hotel also had plenty of excellent food and good service. Train station is just a few blocks away and takes you into the center of Munich in 20 minutes. Vaterstetten is a quaint little village and we enjoyed the church bells and children walking to school.

I stayed at this hotel during a school trip a few years back. The rooms are quite run down and relatively small but I think they would be good for travellers on a budget. However, a major drawback to the hotel is that it is in the middle of nowhere and there really is hardly anything to do around it, but luckily there is a train station a 5-10 minute walk away.
