3I stayed in 6 different cities in Europe on this trip, and this was by far the worst hotel. I was by myself but they gave me a "double" room. I'm not sure how two people would have fit in there. It also smelled like pot and was quite warm (in October!). With the window open, you could hear the busy street in front of the hotel.
The location isn't bad, but it isn't great. It's walking distance (a long walk) to everything (there's a tram that runs a half block from the hotel, but I didn't use it). I picked it because it had parking. If you need parking, you'd better call ahead and make plans because their lot only holds about 4 cars. It is secured though. It costs 20 Euro a night, which seems expensive, but was in the ballpark of what I was paying on this trip.
The worst part was that, the first night there, I lost my room key card (just one of the plastic magnetic ones). They charged me 10 Euro to replace it!!! I couldn't believe it. That's about 10% of the cost of the whole room!
The mattress was thin and lumpy, and the tv would only show a clear picture for about 5 minutes. Then you'd have to turn it off for a few seconds and find your channel again.
Overall, I was very unhappy. On the plus side, the staff spoke fluent English...but then, so does everyone in Amsterdam.
