We had booked via website for 3 night stay with a non-smoking room with a view in this hotel. On arrival we were told there was no "room with a view" available but that the double room we had was very nice. This room was on the 2nd floor with no lift and the stairs are steeper than the stairs in the Anne Frank house. The room itself was an attic room with a tiny double bed. The window opened onto the back of another building. The bathroom had a slope to the ground, very dark , no soap in the dispenser and the sink was in the bedroom!! The smoke detector had been stuffed with tissue paper and the curtains were falling off the rail.....overall the room was a disgrace! I voiced my concerns to the receptionist who after some time said there was a room to the front that was available for 1 night. However, this was all a little too late, we declined to stay in the hotel. We got a hotel a few doors away slightly cheaper and it was luxury compared to this hotel!!! I could not recommend this hotel at all.......

Arrived at the hotel to find th previous occupior had left a dirty coffee cup on the window sill. The room was supposed to be non-smoking but smelt of cigarette smoke and there was an ashtray on the desk. I pointed this out to the reception as we went out for a meal and was told some guests take an ashtry into their room???? When we returned the dirty cup was still there. Next morning we went out and on return the bathroom had a rather un savoury smell about it. The double room was two single beds pushed together. The windows open fully inwards but the safety catch has to be manually set in place. very dangerous. Despite the double glazed windos traffic noise was very loud as if the windows were a poor fit. Would definatly not recommend nor would I return.

I stayed at the Seasons hotel with my 17 yr old daughter. The room was very clean, beds were comfortable, clean towels everyday too. Breakfast was simple, but very nice. The staff spoke excellent english, i would recommend this hotel. Just a minute's walk to the tram stop, number 4 or 25 takes you to Centraal Station it cost 1.60 euros and goes through the main tourist area's. The Canal bus is a ten minute walk up the canal as you turn left out of the hotel, it is 18 euro's for 24hrs, you get fabulous views of the lovely amsterdam houses and you can hop off and on too. It also drops you off outside the Anne Frank House which is well worth a visit.

Not worth it

I stayed in 6 different cities in Europe on this trip, and this was by far the worst hotel. I was by myself but they gave me a "double" room. I'm not sure how two people would have fit in there. It also smelled like pot and was quite warm (in October!). With the window open, you could hear the busy street in front of the hotel. The location isn't bad, but it isn't great. It's walking distance (a long walk) to everything (there's a tram that runs a half block from the hotel, but I didn't use it). I picked it because it had parking. If you need parking, you'd better call ahead and make plans because their lot only holds about 4 cars. It is secured though. It costs 20 Euro a night, which seems expensive, but was in the ballpark of what I was paying on this trip. The worst part was that, the first night there, I lost my room key card (just one of the plastic magnetic ones). They charged me 10 Euro to replace it!!! I couldn't believe it. That's about 10% of the cost of the whole room! The mattress was thin and lumpy, and the tv would only show a clear picture for about 5 minutes. Then you'd have to turn it off for a few seconds and find your channel again. Overall, I was very unhappy. On the plus side, the staff spoke fluent English...but then, so does everyone in Amsterdam.
