Gay Hotel the Golden Bear - Amsterdam, Netherlands     

We had Room 17, a double, at the top of the building. It was clean but on the day of arrival and the following night we were disturbed by the vibration of loud dance type music permeating through from the apartment that was in the adjoining building. We mentioned it to the guy on reception who offered a twin bedded room on the front of the building instead, but he did say that we would possibly here the street noise there. We decided to stay put. The stairs are the steepest and the narrowest of any hotel I have been in, and you will struggle with a large case. The staff at this hotel are courteous and helpful. The breakfast area is a bit claustrophobic, sitting right on top of other hotel guests, and the continental breakfast served is uninspiring. We paid nearly ?95 UK ($190 US) for a double room for two of us, including breakfast, which I thought was overpriced but then Amsterdam is quite expensive generally. Amsterdam is totally gay friendly so you do not necessarily need to opt for a gay hotel.
