Terrible stay at The Y Boulevard Posted: Thu, Jul 24 2008

The three of us arrived the hotel just before 2 pm, there we were told that our room (a dorm) would be ready in an or two hour, perhaps! But at least we could leave our luggage there until then. When we came back to the hotel a few houres later there was no problem to check in, our room was on the second floor and when we entered it we were almost shocked! The 10 bed dorm was suddenly transformed to a 17 bed dorm, there were shaky two etage beds everywhere! The crappy bathroom that all 17 person should share had a nice view to a shabby backyard and were full of hair, empty shampoo bottles, a lot of small flies and a shabby bathtub. The dorm was so full of beds that one just only spot the dirty floor a few places. The walls had some damages as well, wires hang out several places, together with the fungus that were growing on both ceiling and walls.
We decided to stay because we only had one night in Amsterdam and did not want to waste it on the hostel. But the night were just terrible, the beds started to make noise if one just thought about moving, the air was heavy enough to give most people a severe headache and people were smoking weed on the bathroom during the whole F****** NIGHT! It is a miracle that we all came out of there with our lives and belongings... Did not expect a SAS Radisson, but you can get something much in Amsterdam than this, for the same prize! Follow a good advice and just stay away. Personally I will NEVER come back to The Y Boulevard Hotel, not even if I should be the one who got paid for the stay!

Me and my two friends stayed in a 3 bed private room. I think I will just list my thoughts
Reception staff not very helpful and sometimes quite rude
The stairs are like climbing everest
Room stank of bleach
Mould on the wall
Wardrope door hanging off plus an old sock on in the draw
2 electric plugs damaged live wires hanging out
No ceiling light just a hanging wire
only 1 out of the 4 lights worked
Bath room stank of sewage.
Tv remote did not work
No hook to hold the shower up
Cold water or boling hot no inbetween
Breakfast consisted of toast/ham/cheese/cornflakes
Useful location but everything else is awful. On arrival we found one bed was damp resulting from a leak above. We were assured this was fixed - that was not true. Each day we returned to find the same leak, only worse each time. Only offered alternative room on the last night when the "hotel" was not so busy. I was promised a 50 euro refund - this never appeared and my e-mails since have not been answered. Don't stay here, there are lots of othere places to stay in Amsterdam and any random choice has got to be better than this!
