Well, we were booked to stay at the Hotel Avenue, when we arrived they asked the dreaded question, 'Didn't you get your email? !!!!! Nightmare, rooms had flooded and they were moving us to there sister hotel , Savoy! They paid for the tasi there and 48Hrs tram tickets for all the group. When we got there we couldnt believe are luck, it was very modern. Rooms were very clean and modern but really quite small but if you are only sleeping there who cares! We had a DVD player, a big plasma and electric beds that went up and down!! Also, to our surprise the rate included breakfast, anything from the mini bar plus you helped yourself to drinks in the lobby which was very nice in front of a lovely log fire!! Only thing was its location really, we had booked to stay really close to Dam square but eneded up a good 30mins walk away or a few tram rides. It didnt spoil are trip and the staff in the both hotels were very helpful and polite. Overall, it depends on what you want, its not the cheapest but it is a lovely hotel, I just wouldn't really rate the location.

This is a real gem. Recently renovated, situated in a nice downtown location close to the RAI exhibition centre (and not too far from the city centre - just a 15 minute tram ride) this so-called boutique hotel offers many astounding features like an extended breakfast (complete with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, capuccino and espresso etc), nice beds you can adjust and free drinks and canapes. Even the drinks in the room are free. There is no more issue with the bed sheets but you need to ask for a key to open the windows but that is ok. If you ask for a quiet room you would be surprised how quiet the back streets of Amsterdam can be! Rooms are not large but nicely decorated and the restaurants in the area are good with a great choice. I really enjoyed it and will definitely come back - and it takes quite a bit to convince me so this was one of the most pleasant surprises among recent hotel stays!
