4Piet Hein hotel is a nice, modern hotel in a quiet area across from Vondel park and close to the museums. The location is excellent, it didn't take very long to get there on the tram from Central station, and it wasn't far up to Liedesplein to all the restaurants etc.
I booked a single room (to save costs) and it was small, but it was well laid out so it didn't feel too bad. My room overlooked the garden/courtyard at the back of the hotel. The furnishings & decor was clean / modern.
Breakfast was good, if you can, wait for the croissants and rolls, fresh & warm from the oven. (Not too many open cafes nearby early in the morning, so you may as well eat in the hotel)
There are a few internet PC's in the lobby, never a problem if you wanted to check your emails
