Hotel De Looier - Amsterdam, Netherlands     

Just got back from staying here and it was a disappointing last night of our holdiay. Amsterdam is pricey in general and this seemed one of the more reasonably priced places and was rated as three stars. The staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel itself really needs to have some money spent on it. The hotel blurb says that it was recently renovated, I don't think so. The decor and furnishings were old, dated and fraying at the edges. For example the back was coming off the wardrobe, the bedroom carpet had a number of worked in stains and bald patches, the bathroom door had a hole in it, the woodwork had graffiti on it and the grouting in the bathroom was mouldy and brown. The breakfast room resembled an eighties disco, the breakfast itself was okay, the coffee and eggs were good. On the plus side the bed mattresses appeared to have been replaced reasonable recently and the linen and towels were reasonable quality and clean.

Bei der Hotelsuche in Amsterdam sollte man beachten, dass es bei hohen Preisen nicht grade die besten Unterkünfte gibt. Der Zimmerstandard ist allgemein etwas niedriger anzusiedeln. Das de Looier habe ich gewählt, da es zum einen ein Schnäppchenpreis (75 € für ein Doppelzimmer mit Frühstück!) war und zum anderen gefällt mir das Viertel sehr gut, in dem das Hotel liegt - der Jordaan! Sehr ruhig und doch zentral. Von dort aus lässt sich wunderbar die Stadt erkunden. Der Empfang war freundlich. Das Zimmer war relativ groß (für amsterdamer Verhältnisse)! Nicht wirklich überzeugen konnte die Dusche... die Fugen am Boden sahen doch etwas "komisch" aus. Die Toilette war aber absolut ok. Also für ein Wochenende alles in Ordnung. Das Frühstück war einfach und hat geschmeckt. Das Zimmer war etwas hellhörig, aber wer sich nur zum Schlafen im Hotel aufhält, den sollte das nicht weiter stören. Ich war zufrieden mit dem Hotel, trotz einiger "Mängel". Wer eine geringe Schmerzgrenze und zu hohe Erwartungen hat, der sollte sich besser im oberen Preisbereich umschauen. Für alle anderen würde ich das Hotel für einen Kurztrip auf jeden Fall empfehlen!
