"The best bed .... ever!"

Spent 3 nights here at the end of May. Got an excellent rate (only about 20 Euros more than the Ibis at the station was charging). The hotel is within easy walking distance of the central station, the Dam Square, and most of the major sights of Amsterdam. Check in was efficient and all of the staff were courteous. There was no real view out of the room - the window overlooked the back of another property, but at night this meant that the room was very quiet. The room was extremely well appointed - I would describe the size as adequate - I was staying alone so the fact that there was only one easy chair wasn't a problem, but had I been sharing, this would have been annoying. I was slightly surprised that there was no room safe. Excellent air conditioning. Breakfast was 22 Euros - expensive but very good and took the place of lunch on the two days that I had it. Try Humphrey's restaurant for an excellent value (3 courses for 19 Euros) dinner - turn right out of the hotel, take the first wide street on the right and it's on the right. The bed was unbelievably comfortable - 3 excellent nights' sleep - and information in the room about where I could have bought one. If you can get a good deal on this hotel, stay at it.

I have stayed twice at this Sofitel. A few minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal railway station, the rooms are well appointed and the bar and lounge are very comfortable. Thoroughly recommended.

The hotel location was great, within walking distances of all the sights. The beds were the best I have ever slept in! The rooms were clean and the staff helpful.

Will stay here again next trip to Amsterdam

Met all my criteria for a weekend stay in Amsterdam with my friend (2 single beds): * Excellent location, 5 mins walk from Central Station and even closer to Dam Square. * Comfortable beds, adequate (not large) sized room * Extremely friendly and helpful staff * Free drink at the bar and 4pm checkout (I'm a member of the Sofitel scheme) * Reasonable price for Amsterdam (though not cheap compared with other cities). * Relaxing stay
