Great Location & Comfortable Room

This hotel is one of the oldest in KL and I have read terrible reviews about it. I have to say that it was excellent value for money. The bed was immense and the cleaning a very good standard. The only draw back was we in the tower block and the view out the window was the next tower, However we were out all the time so it did not matter. The location is excellent it was within 1K walking distance - quicker than taking a taxi - taxis wee very cheap though to be fair- of all the major sights- Petronas towers, China town The Menara Tower and the Sultan ABdul Ahmed Building . It is also close to all the major shopping malls. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly also. If you just want a convenient base then thisd is a great choice.

Excellent hotel

We stayed at the Federal at teh beginning of June and it was nothing what I was expecting based on previous reports of peeling wallpaper and dirty rooms. The room was really bright and clean with a good view of the city. The bathroom was nice as well. Breakfast was really tasty and had a good variety of food everyday. We would love to go back to the Federal if staying in KL again.

We loved the place very much . The staff was very friendly and helpful.The hotel was close to a lot of places and shops and markets. It was also close to publictransport.And we look forward to our next visit.

Perfect Locality

Have just returned from five nights at the Federal. The only thing we did not like was the hard bed, but these are common in Asia. The Locality of the Hotel was perfect for shopping in Markets or Malls. Lots of bargains to be had. Resaurants are close and a good selection of meals. ALL the staff were friendly, always spoke to my wife and I, the breakfasts were good, I found the swimming pool a little cold. We would stay there again, loved China Town. Needed another suit case to come home. Think this covers most things. Dave Maher Hervey Bay Australia

Do not visit here

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and we were very disapointed with the hotel. We booked one month before going. We asked for the rooms to be on the same floor. We were given rooms one floor apart. They explained they could not give us adjacent rooms. My (non-smoking) parents were given a room on a smoking floor, which they turned down. They were then given a roon 2 floors above us, which they found a used condom in their room. We found hairs in the bed, although the bed looked clean we stil asked for them to change it. The sockets for plugs were hanging off the wall and our phone cable was so badly damaged we could not call out or in. My parents however had a phone call from a tour operator at 7am one morning - in a different language. The locality of the hotel is great - next to Jalan Sultan Ishmail, and Jalan Alor. It is easy to get to just off the momorail. Unfortunately this made our stay very noisy. The blackout curtain did not fit the window properly, so were were disturbed by flashing lights at night and early sun in the morning. On the last morning after an OK breakfast (tastless fruit, soured milk) my parents sat next to the pool. The chairs have been stained with varnish which was wet and my parents had their clothes stained. The hotel finally offered to have them cleaned. We had to have them cleaned twice as the marks were there still. Even now they are still marked. There were no signs for the wet, damaging chairs. Just imagine if you were swimming and sat down on one. Your skin would be marked! All in all, it was a very disapointing stay in the hotel, and we will not be going back.
