Make booking over internet [-] and confirm with credit card. Reach there in 7am, they give a new rate because of New year. But I insist do not want to pay more. So the receptionist (only 1 person) reluctant give me a room in ground floor. I am asking for higher floor, but she say no :( Room is not bad for a budget hotel. But location is good with pasar malam, there is a lot of fake brand bag like LV, Burberry, and so on

The number one pertinent fact is that the street on which the hotel is located is the one closed as a street market every day. Hence, it is inaccessible by anything other than foot. My taxi driver, with limited English, kept trying to tell me this and I assumed that he was simply dumping me on the sidewalk. The hotel itself is a backpacker's haven but perfectly adequate and well located. I did not encounter any fauna of any sort crawling around and the room had ESPN which allowed me to watch the World Series in the morning. Nonetheless, this is pretty basic accommodation and if one wants any measure of luxury, another choice would be better.

We stayed in the Hotel Chinatown Inn based on Lonely Planet recommendations and I have to say we were pleased with our stay. Firstly the hotel is very close to the Pesar Seni LRT station and is located on Petaling St, which is the main market street in Chinatown. However all the stall on the strett made it hard to find the entrance so my advice is to look up to find the name board. We paid 99 MYR or approx 20 euro for the deluxe double room. This had its own bathroom and was a decent sized room with good air-con and a tv. However the room on the 3rd floor faced onto Petaling Street which is extremely noisy until about midnight every night. I would recommend earplugs for any light sleepers! The room was cleaned every day and fresh linen and towels were also given. Internet access is available in the lobby but it is cheaper in internet cafes one street behind. Laudry service is also cheaper in the Red Dragon hostel for budget travellers, but the Chinatown Inn also provides a laundry service. Breakfast is not provided in the hotel but there are many places on Petaling St for all meals! Overall I would give a thumbs up for this hotel as a clean, well located budget accomodation, but be prepared to compromise with a bit of street noise
