The rooms were very big, comfortable and everyday when we returned from our day by the pool they had light a small burner so the room smelt lovely and had turned down our beds and left small choclates with a little card saying sweet dreams! The staff were very friendly and looked after you very well.. Read review

If you love luxury and great customer service- this is the place to be! The rooms were absolutely gorgeous , spacious and clean. The hotel staff - very accomodating and friendly. The bell staff, concierge, housekeeping staff , entertainment staff, and waiters/hostesses were all willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our stay was a pleasant experience. The minibar in the rooms were convenient and always well stocked with our favorite beverages and then some! Pelicanos was a pretty good place to eat.. Read review

In particular, they mentioned some air-conditioning problems in their suite and the restaurants and some continuing construction concerns. BUT they assured us that this hotel was THE place to stay in Cancun and were confident, after discussing things with the management staff at The Royal, that things would be totally up-to-speed in just a few days. For what we wanted (a quick flight to the sun, some peace and quiet, some great dining and lots of pampering! From the moment we entered the welcoming, seated reception area and had our first peek into the stunning lobby that lay beyond, looking out on that amazing blue sea – I felt a calm come over me. We were shown to our awaiting suite right away, a magnificent oceanfront suite on the sixth floor, elegantly and, most importantly, thoughtfully appointed. The designers of this hotel certainly did their homework, as everywhere we looked, everywhere we went – the service and a host of innovative amenities just got better and better. I can’t say enough about the staff – from the bell boys to the poolside wait staff to the floor concierge and lovely and efficient housekeeping ladies to the restaurant personnel – EVERYONE to a person was clearly well-trained in the art of providing excellent service to every guest … but back to the suite.. The condo was spacious with 2 separate bedrooms and bathroom with a large living area and kitchen in the center. The front desk was extremely helpful and gave great advice as to where to go and what to do.

The Royal Resort Cancun is the resort I will compare to every resort I go to for the rest of my life! The staff at this place is unreal. That?s right from the front desk Manager X on down. They are constantly asking if there is anything they can do to make your vacation better. The restaurants are unreal. Some of the best food I have had in my life. That?s not just one but all of them and I was there for 14 days. No reservations at the restaurants was icing on the cake. The rooms and view were also beyond our expectations. The place isn?t cheap it?s five star. That?s what we wanted, paid for, and got!!
Nice hotel but terrible food Posted: Sun, Jan 04 2009

We left feeling disappointed. If you don't care about the food, then this is a great hotel. Comfy bed, all suites have oceanview which is beautiful. Kept the balcony door open all night and fell asleep listening the ocean waves... But the food, which is really important to us, was utterly disappointing. First of all, the place has lots of seafood and meat, however, it is NOT fresh! You could taste the freezer burn on the fish and the meat was so tough, our jaws hurt after awhile. We even asked for medium rare and they keep making it medium well. Also, the food was so inconsistent, sometimes so salty and sometimes so bland. And the funny part is that we're not that picky eaters but one thing I do expect is fresh food. Asiana - we ordered sashimi, don't bother, the fish looked so old that we were scared to bite into it. The tabenyaki is okay. Maria Marie - we had lamb and fish - terrible. But I heard there meat is good. All in all, despite the good (clean nice hotel with nice amenities), the bad (awful food) outweighed the good and we would not go back. Go with low expectations, maybe you think the food is okay. Lastly, we've been to seven all inclusive hotels in the past 4 years and for the price of this hotel, I don't think it's worth it. Good luck !
