A group of friends and i stayed here for a weekend and had a great time. The landlord is now running the place alone, so maybe the previous reviews were to do with previous landlady?
He was fab and couldnt do enough to help. As an animal lover i was happy to see the landlords dog and other customers dogs staying!! It does clearly state on the ad that they accept dogs, so this is always going to be a possibility (although i did have to ask one customer to tell their dog not to bark ever time i went the loo!!)
Cheap bar prices and lovely grub. Very good value for money. Lets hope the previous reviews were just during a bad time in the running of the hotel

Stayed here with my partner, his parents and sister for one night, to take in the lights.
The hotel itself is OK from the outside, typical B&B, what we expected. The room was basic, but clean enough and we had an adequate supply of loo roll, teabags etc. The shower was pretty poor, no water pressure, which made it hard to wash hair. View from the window was of a scruffy back yard.
The main problem was with the landlady. Loud, large and overbearing, she often swore in front of guests and even came to sit with us to watch the TV (when she should have been serving at the bar). We went out for a walk in the rain just to get away from her! Her poor daughter (aged around 7) wandered in wanting to watch the TV and she SCREAMED at her to get out of the room in front of us.
Dinner was dissapointing - the landlady told us we were her 'guinea pigs' for a new dish which was 'hunters chicken' though as far as I could tell it was a chicken breast wrapped in a slice of cheap bacon and covered in cheap bbq sauce out of a bottle - which was all far too sweet and my poor mother in law had to scrape clean to eat as she was so hungry!
Worst of all I found a big black DOG hair in the serving dish of carrots and peas, looking at the open door to the kitchen I could see that she lets her dog wander in and out, disgusting. Even more annoyingly she didn't let us sit and 'enjoy' our meal she insisted on sitting and talking AT us about her divorce, her kids, her life - all using foul language.
All in all we were glad when our stay was over which was a shame really, but as our car was pulling away I expected her to be clinging onto the bumper! I would never stay here again nor reccomend it to anyone other than my worst enemy :)
