Depkin's Manor details:
Manor house Ramavas Muiza is located in a very quiet and peaceful place where you can have a great rest for the duration of your visit. But at the same time, we are only 15 minutes drive from the very centre of the city - Riga old town. The airport is about 20 minutes drive also.
The manor was established in the 15th century.
In 1723 the manor was devolved to the senior pastor of city Riga B.Depkin. In the course of 18th century, the manor has been owned by the pastor’s relative burgomaster Depkin and in 1795 inherited by the master of ceremonies.
In 1804 the manor was sold to J.Port, the senior pastor of city Riga.
In 1808 Garlieb Merkel (1769 – 1850), obtained the manor. He spent the rest of his life there and was buried in Katlakalns cemetery.
During the period of years 1920-1940, the manor dwelling house was run by the research establishment of the Agriculture faculty of University of Latvia “Ramava”.
After the Second World War the manor housed the Designing engineer filial office of USSR Ministry of Agricultural mechanical engineering. Later it was also used as an apartment house.
In 1996 the manor house became the property of Kekava municipality. After a case of severe vandalism in the house in 1998, the board of Kekava municipality suggested to knock the building down and make use of the land for industrial purposes. However, due to intervention of State Inspection for Heritage Protection the manor building was secured and completely renovated.
