The meeting place of diplomats, business people and hotel guests is undoubtedly Pils bar, next to the lobby of the hotel. Beautifully furnished and decorated, with interesting artwork and hunting trophies, this comfortable bar creates a very special atmosphere with unobtrusive friendly service and live entertainment from 10:00 until around 02:00.

Elegant meals are available in the Orangerie restaurant, where imaginative breakfast and delightful culinary creations are served for lunch from 07:00 until 15:00.

Fine dining in elegant surroundings awaits you at the Seasons evening restaurant, where award-winning chefs prepare culinary delicacies in tandem with the four seasons of the year. The candlelit tables and soothing music provide the right ambience for a business dinner or a place to celebrate that special occasion. Selected wines and champagnes are also offered. We have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at this lovely little hotel. Our decision was very much based on the feedback found in this website and of its recognition as a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. We were not disappointed, room decor, size and facilities were spot on considering we stayed in the standard room. Particularly impressed with the aircon system which was exrtremely good in coping with the minus 12 degree temperatures experienced on our trip. Another plus point was the friendly and very helpful nature of all the hotel staff. Reception personnel were incredibly helpful in providing maps and help in finding all the necessary locations including use of the public transport system. Considering a few of the staff were wearing 'Trainee' badges this if anything meant the person you were dealing with went that extra mile - well done folks you provided a top quality service. The hotel is ideally situated in the old district and extremely close to a number of key sites including Riga Palace (worth visiting the Art Gallery inside), Dome Cathedral and St Peters Church. All sites in Riga are easily managed on foot, despite the snow. 3 days should be enough with plenty of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. For that much loved cup of tea and sice of cake look no further than the Apsara Tea House in Vermanes darzs - more varieties of teas you are unlikely to find anywhere. As for restaurants we went to the Steak house Dome (Smilsi 2) on 2 occasions and had great meals, recommended are the obvious steaks, but chicken and tuna dishes were equally lovely. Don't forget the Seasons Restaurant in the hotel, it was highly rated on the internet and did not disappoint - excellent value and the chef really does produce some unusual twists with great care. Finally if you have time try and take a day trip to Sigulda by train which takes just over an hour costs less than a £1 each way . There is lots to do ranging from walks in the pine forests, a trip by cable car, various ruins and lots of folklore places of interest - a full day should do the job. In summary a fab place and the winter is a great time to see it all. Andy & Edith - Birmingham England

Lovely hotel, perfectly located in the Old City of Riga. Absolutely no complaints on service, cleanliness, rooms or food. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room, a deluxe one, was gorgeous.
