InterCityHotel Gelsenkirchen - Gelsenkirchen, Germany     

This is a nice hotel in a good area. It is clean, neat, friendly, and has a great location right near the train and shops, fast food, etc. The breakfast is decent and the rooms were very nice, good bed, bath and other amenities. The decor is nice and the windows open wide. I was very comfortable in this hotel. The Mini bar and other prices are average. They sell wifi access in a better way than other places in that you buy a pass that is good for a number of hours of your choice and these hours are only used while you are logged in and you can also use this credit for up to 2 weeks within their chain of hotels. Additionally, this hotel provides you with a free local transportation pass which is good on the city buses as well as the train and is easily used by simply showing the pass. I used it twice with no problems. I would recommend this hotel to friends and I would stay there again. This chain is a much better value and quality than the similarly located Ibis hotels. (I have stayed at those too).

Wir haben im Juli 2006 bereits zum zweiten Mal ein Wochenende im InterCity Hotel in Gelsenkirchen verbracht und waren sehr zufrieden. Das Zimmer war zwar nicht übermäßig groß, aber sauber und modern eingerichtet. Es gibt keine Klimaanlage, von daher ist es an warmen Sommertagen sinnvoll, die 5 Euro Komfortaufschlag für ein Zimmer mit Blick auf den ruhigen Innenhof statt der belebten Straße vor dem Haus zu investieren. Nur so kann man das Fenster offen lassen und auch trotz Hitze ganz gut schlafen. Angenehm ist auch, dass zwei Etagen für Nichtraucher reserviert sind. Kleiner Kritikpunkt: Die Vorhänge waren recht verstaubt und hätten eine Wäsche mal wieder nötig gehabt. Das Frühstücksbüffet war sehr gut und seinen Preis wert (ist nicht im Zimmerpreis enthalten). Es gibt so ziemlich alles, was man von einem schönen Frühstück erwartet :-) Und wir fanden es gut, dass man bis 11 Uhr frühstücken konnte! Sehr schön auch, dass der Zimmerausweis als Fahrausweis für den öffentlichen Nahverkehr im Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) gilt. Zum Bahnhof mit sehr guten Verkehrsverbindungen (Zug, Straßenbahn, S-Bahn, Bus) sind es etwa 5 Minuten Fußweg. Dort beginnt auch die Fußgängerzone der Innenstadt. Mit der günstigen Wochenenderate für 55 Euro pro Zimmer (ohne Frühstück, mit Komfortzuschlag) wirklich ein gutes Angebot.
