Mary - Vicenza, Italy 

We stayed there July 4 and 5, 2008. It is in Vicenza, not Venice. It is just outside the US Army base, and is an overflow referral when the base guest hotel is full. And this hotel filled up both nights. It was very nice, rooms were very cozy. Everything is tile and marble-floors, walls, etc. The breakfast buffet was great both days. The staff were very helpful. Bus stop across the street, and we bought bus passes at hotel for 1 Euro to go downtown-just 15 or 20 minutes away-in order to take train to Venice. Only thing that kept it from being a 5 star is we were there during a heat wave, and even with Air Conditioner on full, it did not get very cool. Some rooms are doubles beds, some two twins, and one even an apartment with a double and a twin.

This clean, newer hotel was a 15 minute bus ride to the heart of Venice, with a bus stop just around the corner. The bus tickets are about 1.20 euro each way. You can also take a 10 minute bus or taxi ride from Marco Polo airport to the hotel. It was approximately 18 euro to take a taxi. We never heard any planes though, as it is does not seem to be in the flight path. It was a great way to save money by staying outside "downtown" Venice, and the amenities were great. The staff was very friendly, helpful with luggage, cab rides, and local area information. A nice breakfast is provided with the price of the room also. The rooms have high ceilings, some with tub, some just a shower, and some have a large balcony. There is also AC in the summer. There are hardwood floors throughout the hotel and modern rooms. If you are taking a cruise from Venice, this is a great place to stay! You don't have to worry about lugging all your bags onto water taxis or across bridges! Just get off the bus or taxi and there you are! They even assisted us with getting a room ready when we arrived from the cruise ship at 8:00 am and held our bags after checkout so we could sightsee. Excellent hotel and wonderful staff!!
