Very nice hotel for the price and a good, quiet location. We were there with a group in the off season and had 4 rooms, all were nice, though one was small, and the bathrooms were nice. Good value.

I have just returned from Venice after spending 4 very sleepless nights at the Hotel Castello. If it wasnt people shouting or rowing all night it was the staff at the fruit & veg shop on the corner setting up at 5.30am. and thats with the windows and shutters closed! And no air con!!!
When we first got to our room (106) we were told by the porter as he opened the door to be very carefull!!! there was a shear drop with at least 6 stairs down as soon as you open the door!! I said to my husband " we had better be carefull after a few glasses of wine"
Yes the room was clean and tidy but it was tiny!!! as was the bathroom, you could sit on the loo and have a shower!!! it was that small!!
Venice is a beautifull place if you can ignore the rubbish, dog poo & Graffiti (even on the Rialto Bridge)it was everywhere
My wife and I booked on the spur of the moment for our wedding anniversary. I then read the Trip Advisor reviews and was a little concerned at what we might find. Why were people making such a fuss?
It's position is great, the rooms are clean and well presented, breakfast was fine and we found the staff to be polite and friendly.
We were on the third floor but the lack of lift just helped us to burn up the calories from the Italian food and wine.
We recommend La Neova Perla resteraunt on the corner of the Via Garibaldi and there is a nice little cafe just round the corner from the pharmacy on the corner of the square - the toasted sandwiches are a must!
The only drawback we found were the pigeons who were awake a lot earlier than we would have liked.
We would definately stay here again.
