We stayed in a family room which in fact is a double room with an added bed, therefore not very spacious. Breakfasts were basic with the only hot food being a croissant. Location is very good. Nice courtyard garden, however overall expensive for the facilites, breakfast and room size.

Nice Hotel

My family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers stayed at Casa Verardo for one night in early June '08 for 290 euros. We had heard about the hotel in Rick Steve's book and decided to give it a try. We had a room that was called a triple with one extra bed. The room was very cramped for 4 adults but was clean and ok for one night. I definitely would not pay the same price if I was staying more than one night. I think most hotels in Venice set their rack rates very high and then reduce them if needed. The location is right behind San Marco Square and is very easy to reach by the map on their web site. The front desk people were helpful with setting up gondola rides (90 euros for 45 minutes-try to barter elsewhere for around 70 euros) and recommending restaurants. Breakfast was included and consisted of breads, ham, yogurt, cereal, fruit, juice, and coffee. We ate on the outside terrace which was nice.Venice was like a large maze but a great city to see. I would probably stay at Casa Verardo again but would look for a better rate if I was staying more than one night.

Horrible
I don?t have to say much

I don?t have to say much, because as soon as I got to this hotel I was turned around. I was supposed to stay there from 1st to 4th of March, I had paid a deposit and had a reservation voucher from HotelClub. In a small lobby there were already people waiting for a transfer to other hotels - I was not alone. They told me they would show me a single room of the same caliber in the hotel nearby of three stars as well. The payment for three nights was 500 euros (around 750 USD). The room they showed me in the hotel "Da Bruno" was 2 to 3 meters, without windows and dirty. There was nothing there but the bed. I told them that this room looked like a prison cell, and I didn?t feel I did something bad, besides I wouldn?t stay there even if I would be paid, jaja. So I left to look for another hotel at 9pm in a strange town full of scam. See review of "Royal San Marco".
