What Travellers Like

We wanted a hotel that was quiet for our sons afternoon naps and easily accessible to the tourist sites. This charming quiet and very local feeling canal puts you immediately into the Venezia mood while lazy gondolas slide by and the world rolls back a few centuries. The Basilea has a wonderful ambience, great value for the price, we paid 230 euro per night with breakfast. We were satisfied with our breakfast options and found the choices moderate to good. Our canal view was limited since we were on the side street but we still were able to lean out our window and see it and best we were able to sleep thru the night undisturbed. The Basilea staff were pleasant and professional and the hotel was clean and our room was a welcome home away from home after sightseeing and dealing with the tourist crowds Venice attracts. The bathroom was satisfactory with one of the best tub/shower combos of our trip. There are a few convenient shops right were the hotel is situated for a quick piece of pizza, a gelato or necessities like water, etc.. Read review

Although the room was not large-, it was well appointed with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space and the furniture was very pretty. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient, with lots of lovely coffee.. Read review

Quiet view over a small campo, nice location of hotel and the staff was always helpful. The shower/bath were great, the continental breakfast was included in the price was very good.

The location was really good - easy to get just about anywhere on the island on foot, last hotel stay in Venice was lovely and staff at reception was very helpful. The rooms were clean.
