We stayed at the Hotel Diana for 2 nights. The hotel location couldn't be better, you are just 100 m from the Piazza San Marco! The room was clean and nice. The bathrooms was also nice and clean; they have a tub and a shower. The staff was always friendly, greeting and willing to help. The breakfast was simple but quite good. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it!

I came to Venice with my sister for a birthday treat. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean and had everything you would need. Breakfast was continental but good - lovely coffee. All the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Its location makes it an ideal place to stay. Lynda Nottingham

Having just arrived back from Venice, the hotel is very much fresh in my mind, what can I say, we booked this hotel after reading other members previous reviews, I have to say, after a bad experience in Milan, we were concerned about our stay in the Comfort Diana Hotel, thankfully we were not dissapointed. The Hotel itself is amazingly tucked into one of the typically narrow streets of Venice, what is great about its location is that its tucked away just behind St Marks Square, to the far left corner of the St Marks Basilica, very easy to find, and a great location when you have finished your sight seeing day, there are lots of shops around it, lots of places to eat, and a great sandwich and deli bar just on the corner as you come out. When we arrived the hotel receptionist was very nice, speaks great english, and was telling us about his time in London, checked us into room 101 a double room on 1st floor, the hotel lobby is modern, petitie marble floored, nice surroundings, very inviting, the breakfast area is sort of tucked into the far end of the lobby in the morning, again, very comfortable. The lift is modern, fits 2 people and their luggage in, no problem, and the rooms themselves looked like they have undergone a recent refurbishment, nice new carpeting, good size double beds, or (twins) nice wardrobe facilities, with keycode safety deposit, keycode/chip card entry to the room. There is a nice mini bar in the room near the colour television, and the t.v. has all international channels, such as CNN, BBC World, Rai Uno, French television, etc etc. The rooms are beautifully air conditioned, with individual air conditioning, (not communal air flow) this made all the difference after a long day in the hot sun 30 degrees, the bathroom is marble floor, and amazingly, a great bath tub, and digital controlled shower system, although the shower head is somewhat lower down the wall than expected, if you are a tall person, you have to point it up slightly to get the desired blast. Amenities are adequate, soaps, shower gels, etc, towels plentiful, and all in all the room met all our expectations. In the morning, breakfast was served in the top half of the hotel lobby, the lounge area converts into a small breakfast area, 2 ladies served us, very nice and friendly, the breakfast was continental, but nicely presented, croissants, Rolls, a basket of preserves, jams, cheeses, marmalades and other items, yoghurts, nice fresh juices, and capaccino, or Coffee, teas, etc, the breakfast is more than enough to get you started in the morning. As we were checking out that morning, but staying in Venice to do some more sight seeing, the receptionist had no problems with us leaving our luggage in the hotel foyer until we returned later at about 1pm, all in all, a perfect hotel experience in Venice, cost to us ?96.00 which is one of the cheapest rates we could find in the San Marco area. Directions to the hotel: For those arriving from Marco Polo airport, take the water bus, or Motoscafi taxi (more expensive) docking at San Marco stop, walk across past the Doges Palace and between the clocktower, and head for the far right corner at the top, walk between the shops, and go down the nearest alley, turn right, and look for signs up on the wall in front of the hotels, whilst the Comfort Diana is not mentioned, it is with the other hotels you will see, walk down the Via Specciari 2 minutes, you will see the entrance to your right, dont go too tast, or you will miss it, its easily done. For those arriving by the Tronchetti (car deposit area) or by the Santa Lucia Ferrovia Railway station. Coming out of the station, walk down the steps, look to your left, you will see the Vaporreto water stop called Ferrovia, here buy a ticket 1 journey or 24 hour, its about 45 minutes down the grand canal, stopping everywhere, but eventually, at San Marco, when getting off, turn right follow the crowd past all the souvenir stalls, (lots of them) over the bridge, and then to San Marco square as above, follow the above directions across the square past the doges palace and San Marco Basilica.
