Hotel Locanda Vivaldi was inaugurated at the end of 1999, after painstaking and long restructuring works on the building adjacent to the Church of Pietà.

In 1703, Antonio Vivaldi was ordained a priest and started to work as a violin teacher in the Pietà conservatory, where he remained until 1740.

After only 6 months of priesthood, Vivaldi no longer wished to celebrate mass. He was nicknamed the Red Priest and Goldoni explained that he was so-called because of his fire-red hair. According to other sources, this name was given to him because of his permanence at the Pietà Institute, where the 'daughters' of this hospice, his pupils, used to wear a scarlet colour.

Location

The hotel is situated in the heart of Venice, in Riva degli Schiavoni. It occupies a position in front of St Mark's Basin and a short walk from the famous Square, an open-air theatre of the artistic and cultural life of the city.

There is a magnificent view from the hotel that sweeps from the columns of St Mark’s Square to the Dogana’s point, from the Island of Giudecca with the nearby Island of San Giorgio, up to Lido of Venice.

Location is great: the view from my room was directly on the lagoon and St. Rooms are very nice, quite big and clean and the rooms on the front have also idromassage bath tube. My friends had two standard rooms: they were a little bit smaller than our rooms ( we had superior one) but also pretty nice: one has the shower and the view on the side canal and the other one has the idromassage tube and the view on the small interior garden. We also had dinner on the terrace on the rooftop: from there view is spectacular, food was simple but good quality and medium-low price. Murano island: we left directly from the Hotel private boat gate and we went to Murano with a private taxi boat free of charge (taxi boat in Venice is very expensive! I paied 120 Euro from the airport to the Hotel for 6 pax! Lobby, but it wasn't possible to print.. Read review

I stayed in the double suite at the Locanda Vivaldi in Venice with my wife a two young children, ages 6 and 9. The room was just spectacular, with a large king size bed and the other connected room, with it's own bathroom and valcony. The location is perfect, just around the corner from St.. Read review

Hotel is located perfect and the rooms are really in Italian style. They upgraded our room to a junior suite and we were very happy with this upgrade. We did not have a great view from our rooms. Breakfast was really nice and again good service.. Read review

This small hotel is in a wonderful location, facing the lagoon and a 5 min walk to St Mark's Square. The rooms were charmingly decorated in a tasteful baroque style and the bathrroms were newly renovated in white marble and immaculately clean. The bellhops were very friendly and worked hard..
