Great location

Decided to take my wife for her birthday weekend to Venice. I had some accumulated points on a credit card so I booked through Hotelopia. I requested a canal view as it was a birthday treat. This was totally ignored. In fact we were not even in the main hotel. We were given a second floor apartment in a separate building a few paces away from the hotel. It was very large and would have slept six people. The beds were clean and comfortable. There was an apology for a television in the bedroom which only received local Italian TV. The picture was appalling. I would have expected a good picture and some international TV for a centrally located hotel. There was a large lounge with a bed/settee and plenty of wardrobe space. Sadly , there were no tea or coffee making facilities or even a kettle. They obviously wanted us to spend money on their expensive cold refreshments in the well stocked fridge. The bathroom was adequate but the bath and shower were a joke. Fortunately we are both agile but the very slim bath had no grab handles and would in our opinion, have been dangerous for anyone who was large and less agile. The shower never turned off and always sprayed water even when turned to bath. It was hand-held only and one was thus unable to have a proper shower. The toilet continually ran with water, not a problem for us as we couldn’t hear it but what a waste of resources. The cabinet was well stocked with shampoo, soap and shower caps (hardly necessary) and the towels were plentiful. Overall the bathroom needs a makeover. Breakfast was across the passageway in the main hotel. It was adequate but the same every day. The only warm food was bacon and scrambled eggs. There were cold meats and cakes plus juices and tea and coffee. Amazingly no toast of any description only rolls. The staffs were helpful and informative. Another point of warning. Don’t put on too many lights as the fuse kept tripping out. It happened twice and I called for assistance on the first occasion to locate the fuse box. A few seconds later it happened again. I soon worked out the apartment didn’t like all its lights left on a once. The electrical wiring also needs a makeover. As the room was effectively free I can’t complain too much. I would however have been mightily disappointed if I had paid the going rate.

Just around the corner from San Marco square. The room was large, a bit worn but comfortable. Air conditioning didn't work well but it was very hot in Venice. Staff were helpful. Beware of 'free' trip to Murano. They take you to a glass factory and if you buy something you get a lift back, if not, you make your own way back on the vaporetti. No internet access. About 200metre walk from vaporetti.

Part of the Globus tour package. Being in Venice, I expected to be cramped in a small room...what a nice surprise! Not only is it literally a few steps away from St-Mark square, our room was a good size and with a great view! We were on the top floor and had a great view of the bell tower and the dome of the St-Mark square. The staff spoke perfect english and friendly! Our other travel companions had nothing bad to say about their rooms neither...No chance of not finding your way back to your hotel if you get lost in the streets in Venice..just ask for direction back to St-Mark's square. There are 2 restaurants, as a guest of the hotel, you can ask the reception for a discount voucher of 15% to any of their restaurants...One of the restaurant is actually Hell's Kitchen...(very Pricey). So we decided to go for the other. it was actually quite decent. Do remember that you are in Venice, great food is hard to find and it is quite expensive (more than the rest of Italy)..so do your research...

We have just returned today from a 3 night stay at this hotel - there were a group of us - and we did have 2 single travellers - one of which stayed in room 204!! (see other review) The hotel is in a perfect location, a stones throw from St Marks, and it has it's own pier - which makes your arrival in Venice that much more special. You can get to anywhere from here really easily, breakfast is adequate to see you off on a day's sightseeing, the rooms are a good size and very clean and the housekeeping is very efficient. Above everything else though - what makes this hotel outstanding in our opinion - is the staff! - particularly the reception staff - Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, a simple question and they would go out of their way to find you all the relevent information, ring restaurants, draw maps - print off timetables- anything - really really superb! We all had a wonderful time in Venice - such a fantastic place, and the All Angelo was no small part of that experience - Well Done - keep up the good work!
