We have just returned from Italy and found the Hotel Amadeus extremely friendly, clean and welcoming and ideally situated close to the Station, water bus-stops and in the beautiful area of Cannaregio away from the busy parts of St. Marks Square. Our room overlooked the lovely Japanese garden - try to avoid a room overlooking the street. Breakfasts were very good. The Cannaregio Canal is close by and you can walk to the Ghetto area. The Misericordia Canal is another canal which is often missed and well worth a visit. Not to mention Tintoretto's house - the actual home of the great artist whose paintings are to be seen in his church the Madonna del Orto and the Scuola of San Rocco. Close to the hotel is relatively cheap eating. We used the friendly Trattoria Nuavo almost opposite the hotel. For unusual souveniers visit the Studio D'Arte Vio on Rio Tera de la Maddalena (on route from hotel to the Rialto). Particularly terracotta plaques. Water buses expensive (6.5 Eur to St. Marks) but worth making the trip once for the sights and after that just walk! Wonderful holiday, highly recommend the hotel.. Read review

This hotel was amazing as the location was on a typical street in Venice close to restaurants, the staff was very attentive and the room was clean slightly small. Moreover coffee machine made the best individual cups of expresso.
