Hotel Belle Epoque - Venice, Italy 

Belle Epoque is probably similar to a thousand Italian hotels - some things very good, some not so good, most things average or satisfactory. Its best features are location (about one minute's walk from the train station and on a busy street full of shops and eateries) and the decor, which is amusingly garish. They are very proud of their glass elevator too, which is a recent addition and looks a little out of place - but it does the job. I enjoyed their breakfasts too, a typical Italian hotel breakfast but plenty of choice and the kitchen staff are friendly. The rooms at Belle Epoque are small-ish but comfortable enough; the marble bathrooms are functional and roomy enough. There's no view to speak of but you're probably not going to spend much time in the room anyway. It can be a bit hard to find at first: just head out of the train station, turn left, walk 100 metres and it's on your left. And the desk staff could use a few happy pills also.

We stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful stay. The rooms were extreamly comfortable and clean. The hotel is close to everything. About a 15 min walk to Rio Alto Bridge and about a 20 min walk to St. Mark's square. We would definatly stay here again.
