We booked these rooms months ahead and got an incredible rate. I had some doubts because of previous mediocre reviews, but this hotel was truly excellent. We were actually given two beautiful rooms on the top floor, both with balconies overlooking the campanile of San Marco. The staff was among the most courteous we encountered in Europe, and the location couldn't have been better. One just gets off at the San Marco vaporetto stop, walks across the square, takes one of the couple of tunnels leading through the shopping gallery on the other side, crosses a bridge, and the hotel is there. The Cathedral is five minutes away, and so are many, many good restaurants and shops. We will definitely return.
You cannot find a better location for the sites of Venice. This hotel is literally steps from the Piazza San Marco and easily walkable to Ponte di Rialto!
Location of this hotel is fantastic in relation to Palazzo San Marco. Our room was small but overlooked the canals and the bathroom more than adequate in relation to most hotels in this area.
Breakfast was a real dissapointment and we found that each day we left food as it was stale. This was the only fault we found with the hotel.
Through the day we walked away from San Marco to avoid the crowds, but headed back in the evening to enjoy the brilliant ambience of the palazzo and music.
At nearly $600 / night ,tiny stuffy room facing a wall,I was hoping that internet might be included .but alas NO -well, yes if you throw in another $20 --for 1 hour!
A totally over priced hotel -the worst decision I have made in my travels- in relation to my travel dollars
