Harbour Plaza Hong Kong - Hong Kong, Hong Kong     

After reading the many great reviews, I decided to book this hotel on a lay over, before going into mainland China. I was definintely not disappointed! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff is top notch. I booked a club room with a harbor view which was spectacular. Paul and Bob at the Concierge Desk were extremely helpful and true gentlemen. We took the ferry over to the Hong Kong island and went up to Victoria's Peak, which provided an incredible view. In regard to comments of this hotel being a bit away from the action, I was actually very pleased with that fact. After going to the "action" it was very nice to come back to such a relaxed environment. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Hong Kong, wouldn't stay anywhere else!

I've stayed here several times on business trips. The most recent time, I booked a "deluxe view" room and got a small room with a view of high rises. Room was basic with a fairly hard bed, desk and straight chair, small TV with satellite channels. Bathroom had standard amenities and an excellent shower. No drinking water supplied in the room. You have to buy bottled water in the minibar. Soundproofing is not great - I heard a guy next door coughing during the night. The buffet restaurant near the lobby is good, but crowded and very noisy. Room service food is fair. Service is always friendly. The hotel caters mostly to mainland Chinese and other Asian travelers and has a lot of services they like. They provide a lot of in-room massage services and on previous visits I had calls in the evening asking whether I wanted a girl to come to my room. (This is common in China but not in Hong Kong.) Location is OK because taxis are available and the subway is nearby. You will need them because the immediate area offers nothing. Adequate for a night's rest, but nothing special.
