Albergo Cannon d'Oro address: Via Montanini 28, Siena, 53100

Albergo Cannon d'Oro details: The hotel is centrally located on Via Montanini, an elegant shopping street only 200 metres from the famous Piazza del Campo and very close to the bus station.

Situated in the old town, we are a short walk from all the major sights. Staff are happy to assist you with directions and make suggestions for visits.

The hotel has a rich history and great character. Until 1262, it was a former palace owned by the noble Bulgarini family. Afterwards the building was owned by Ghinibaldo di Saracino and his wife Sapia Salvani). The old Ponzi’s tower can be seen in the hotel’s façade. In the 19th century, the hotel was called Locanda delle Armi d’Inghilterra and now it is known as Cannon d’Oro.

This is a simple hotel, with minimal facilities. For its price it is perfectly acceptable, though don't expect too much. The breakfast is not good at all. The room has a silly shower arrangement, whereby the water can spread throughout the bathroom. Wireless internet was provided for free, which is useful.

I chose to stay at this hotel due to it's proximity to the bus stop as well as the price. It was about a 7 minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel's main entrance way. I found out about this hotel from the Rick Steve's guidebook. Check-in was quick and upon entering our room we were happy. I had requested a room with the exposed brick arches and we got one! The room was spacious enough for 2 adults - our room had two twins pushed together for a 'king' size bed and there was also one more twin bed on its own. Breakfast was sufficient, the bathroom was as well. The front desk at all times was cordial and friendly, and if needed, helpful. When we return to Siena, we will definitely stay here again - it was a perfect spot to rest after your exploring through this great city!
